Benefit Dinner Encore with Local Farmer’s Meats Planned for October 12

Peconic, NY -- On Sunday, October 12, Lucki 7 Livestock Company owner Stephen G. Winkler of Rodman will once again travel to Long Island to be part of a homeless shelter benefit dinner. Winkler will be supplying his Certified Natural NY meats for the meal that will be served under the trees at Sang Lee Farms, an organic vegetable farm on Long Island’s North Fork (25180 County Road 48, Peconic, NY). An August 10th benefit dinner for Maureen’s Haven served 100 and was so successful it created a waiting list for an encore.

For Winkler, this second dinner feeds his interest in feeding the hungry. Over the coming winter months, he will refine a plan for connecting farms and food pantries.

“We will be working out the supply and distribution details so people in need can benefit from a farm’s abundance of fresh harvest and the times when we produce more than buyers can take at one time,” Winkler says.

Winkler raises pork, chicken and beef following natural and humane standards that he has dubbed Certified Natural. He vacuum packs his meats and ships products downstate via a distributor serving the Long Island area. He sells his Lucki 7 meats, eggs, and produce to buyers locally, and through distributors to markets in New York State and New England.

Through a certification process that assures such production practices as providing continual access to pasture, Winkler makes his Certified Natural label available to other livestock producers.

Lucki 7 Livestock Company, Sang Lee Farms will be joined by Catapano Dairy and Costello De Bourghase Winery for the benefit dinner of Certified Natural meats, fresh vegetables, goat cheese and Long Island wine. The event will have a Meet the Farmers feature and a bonfire or chimnea flame to add to the autumn ambiance of the evening meal that will begin at 4:30 pm.
